If you blog, 

you have probably run across Word Verification or Captcha. 

Word Verification 

requires you to type in letters 

to prove you are not a robot spamming the blog's comments. 

However, 

for the non-robots, like me, 

the new Word Verification is extremely hard to decipher. 

I have spent quite a bit of time 

entering the letters as best as possible 

only to have to re enter a new set because I could not 

read them.  

So dear blogging friends, 

please consider dropping Word Verification! 

You will get more comments 

and frustrate less people. 

Here are some tips on how to do that if using blogger. 

In Blogger>Dashboard>Settings>Comments 

Who Can Comment?

 Registered Users - includes OpenID

Comment Form Placement

(This option makes it easier to comment via Networked Blogs.)

 Pop-up window 

This is the important choice:

Show word verification for comments? 

 No

Comment Notification Email

If you enter your e mail address, 

you will receive an e mail when you get a comment. 

You will know if something inappropriate is published and take action

and you can respond to comments via e mail 

if the user has allowed it.

These are my selections and I do not get spammed.  

However, if you are concerned then add this option: 

Comment moderation

 Always 

OR
 Only on posts older than  days 

* Help get the word out!
