Annie C. Maguire

Christmas Eve 1886
We read this and wondered if it was true,
we found it is true and an interesting story too!
There was no storm,
there was no fog.
But the Annie C. Maguire was in serious financial debt
and the creditors were waiting to seize the ship.
After the rescue, the sheriff searched the ship for cash to appease the angry creditors
but the captain's wife hid the cash in her hatbox
which was rescued along with her.
Rescues were performed by Keeper Joshua Strout and his family.
There was nothing remaining for the creditors.
